Good accountancy is about more than numbers. It’s about having people you can speak to, who understand your business and can help you make confident financial decisions.
Meet the team supporting Chapelton clients across Aberdeen, Ellon, Edinburgh and beyond.
Tom has over 20 years’ experience in accountancy, starting his career in Big 4 audit before moving into the oil and gas sector, where he progressed to finance director level.
He knows how much easier it is to make good business decisions when the numbers are accurate and up to date. Today, Tom brings that experience to small businesses, helping owners understand where they stand, plan ahead and make decisions with greater confidence.
"Good accountancy isn't about numbers. It's about helping you make better decisions."
Maria brings over 14 years’ experience in finance to her role as Practice Manager at Chapelton. Throughout her career, she has focused on improving processes, finding efficiencies and making day-to-day financial management easier.
For Maria, good accountancy is about people as much as numbers. She takes time to understand each client’s business and what matters to them, helping them feel comfortable asking questions, confident in the advice they receive and clear about their financial position.
"The best part of the job is turning something complicated into something clear."
Vicky brings a wealth of practical business experience to Chapelton, having spent 15 years in hospitality, progressing into senior operations management with responsibility for quality assurance and financial audits.
She also knows what it’s like to run a small business, having started a construction firm with her husband. That first-hand experience shapes her practical, down-to-earth approach to accountancy. Vicky helps clients stay organised, keep on top of their numbers and spend less time worrying about paperwork.
"Numbers tell a story. My job is to make sure you can read it."
Shaeden joined Chapelton as an intern and has continued developing his accounting knowledge and experience alongside his university studies.
With a keen interest in technology, he’s particularly enthusiastic about finding smarter, more efficient ways to work. Shaeden believes accounting should be straightforward and accessible, with accurate numbers and clear explanations that help clients understand their finances without unnecessary complications.
"I'd rather answer a question twice than have a client worry in silence."
Clients shouldn’t feel as though their accountant disappears after the year end. Chapelton’s team works together to provide accessible support throughout the year, so questions can be dealt with before they become problems.
Where appropriate, clients can draw on different members of the team for accounts, tax, payroll, bookkeeping and wider business support.
Tell us a little about your business and what you need from your accountant. We’ll arrange a conversation with the right person at Chapelton.
